University appoints 16 new faculty members

California State University Channel Islands has appointed 16 new faculty members for the 2007-08 academic year.

The new tenure-track faculty members at CSUCI are:

Stephen Clark, associate professor of Spanish, previously employed at Northern Arizona University.

Tracylee Clarke, assistant professor of communication, previously employed at CONCUR Inc.

Christopher Cogan, assistant professor of environmental science and resource management, previously employed at Alfred Wegener InstituteGermany.

Colleen DelaneyRivera, assistant professor of anthropology, previously employed at Moorpark College.

Dennis Downey, assistant professor of sociology, previously employed at University of Utah.

Sean Kelly, associate professor of political science, previously employed at Niagara University.

Daniel Lee, associate professor of sociology, previously employed at Pennsylvania State University.

James Meriwether, professor of history, previously employed at Cal State Bakersfield.

Elizabeth Quintero, professor of education, previously employed at New York University.

Jeri-Elayne Smith, associate professor of business and economics, previously employed at Butler University.

Christy Teranashi, assistant professor of psychology, previously employed at Texas A & M International University.

Eric Toshalis, assistant professor of education, previously employed at Harvard University.

William Wagner, associate professor of sociology, previously employed at Cal State Bakersfield.

New tenure-track faculty members who were previously employed at CSUCI are: Debra Hoffmann, assistant librarian; Catie Mihalopoulos, assistant professor of art; and Luda Popenhagen, associate professor of performing arts.

CSUCI's new nursing program appointed a new faculty member. Kaleen Cullen is lecturer of nursing with a three-year appointment while completing her PhD in nursing education. She was previously employed at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The new and returning faculty members will begin their duties on Mon., Aug. 27, the first day of the semester. Saturday classes begin tomorrow, Aug. 25.
