Hospice to train new volunteers

Hospice of the Conejo will offer a new volunteer training program in the board room at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, 215 W. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Times and dates for the classes are 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Oct. 4, 11 and 18, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 27. A $25 materials fee applies.

Volunteers provide comfort to those with a life-threatening illness and ongoing support to family members, as well as companionship and support for the bereaved, the infirm and the homebound. They may run errands, walk a dog or provide respite when a family member needs a break. Volunteers also provide bereavement support. Some volunteers prefer to help out in the hospice office or participate in special projects.

The service area includes Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Agoura, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Oak Park and Calabasas.

For more information, call (805) 495-2145.
