Davis to leave PVSD and join Moreno Valley district
Pleasant Valley School District officials confirmed today that Assistant
Superintendent Barbara Davis announced last week her plans to leave the local
district to take the same job with Moreno Valley Unified School District in
Riverside County.
Her last day will be Sept. 10.
Davis leaves the Pleasant Valley School District with its less than 7,000
students to join the Moreno Valley district, which enrolls more than 37,000.
The Moreno Valley district has 40 schools with a number of campuses under
construction, said Scott Johnson, a spokesman with the Moreno Valley school
district.
Davis, who has been with the local school district for three years, and
interim Superintendent Luis Villegas were unavailable for comment at the time
this article was posted. The two district officials were working with teachers
today in preparation for the start of the school year on Wednesday.
Davis, assistant superintendent in charge of education services, handles
student curriculum and oversees the district's discipline policies.
Earlier this month, the California State Department of Education released its
annual state test results, and Pleasant Valley students outscored their county
and state peers.
Last year, Davis helped the district through a turbulent school year that saw
the closure of two schools and the restructuring of two more. Davis took over as
interim superintendent when interim superintendent Ken Moffett abruptly resigned
in May--a month before classes ended.
