Girl Scouts give thanks Girl Scout Troop 511 would like to thank everyone who supported our Uniform Car Wash Fundraiser last Saturday morning. Not only did we achieve our goal of new uniforms for each of our 16 newly-bridged Junior scouts, but we surpassed it, enabling us to take them on a field trip or other reward for their hard work and efforts. We had an outpouring of helping hands, dirty cars and open wallets. We enjoyed heartwarming conversations with almost all who came to support us. And a few visitors, after reading license plate frames and bumper stickers, volunteered to speak with our girls at future meetings. Some traveled from as far as the valley, Simi and Thousand Oaks as well as Oxnard and Ventura to support us. Some were locals who saved their "dust" from recent trips to show their support. All were friendly, patient and wonderful. Thank you all. We would also like to thank the following local companies for their fabulous support: America's Tires who sponsored the event, Motel 6, Hampton Inn and Suites, Trader Joe's, Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, Starbucks, KBBY who put the girls on the air, Michael's Craft Store for the use of their facilities and employee parking area, and to all of our parents, families and siblings who assisted throughout the day. Thank you all for making it a fun and rewarding day.
