St. John's closes ER for mold fumigation

St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard suspended emergency department services on Wednesday, Aug. 8 as part of a longplanned initiative to remove mold affecting areas of the hospital.

Treatment for emergency department patients admitted prior to 7 a.m. will continue. St. John's Regional Medical Center's main hospital remains open for most non-emergency services until Aug. 14. Emergency services are also available at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo.

Ventura County Emergency Medical Services adjusted its ambulance coverage boundaries in anticipation of the emergency services suspension. All other regional acute care hospitals will remain open and have prepared for increased patient volumes.

The hospital is scheduled to temporarily suspend all services from August 14-23 to facilitate the treatment program
