Early galaxies subject of talk

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will hold its monthly membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Aug. 17 in the multipurpose room at Mesa Union School, 3901 Mesa School Road, Somis.

Richard Ellis, a professor of astronomy at Caltech University, will give a presentation on the "Cosmic dawn: the quest to find the earliest galaxies." The lecture will describe the observational challenges faced, progress made and the importance of continuing the quest.
