Champ expected to defend crown at upcoming crab-eating contest
$400 gift certificate up for 'crabs'

The Crab House restaurant has scheduled its annual Crab Eating Contest on Sat., Aug. 18. The award-winning eatery at 350 N. Lantana St., Camarillo, is best known as the home of allyoucan-eat crab.

"Last year's contest was a big success," said Crab House owner Mike Lagomarsino. "We drew a large crowd and everyone had a great time, but we think we'll have a bigger event this year."

Last year's winner, Heather Oniel of Camarillo, ate 2.3 pounds of crabmeat. Oniel is expected to return to defend her title.

This year's champion will win a $400 gift certificate from New Horizon Travel. The runner-up will win a dinner a month for a year.

The Crab House is an independently owned restaurant and has operated in the same location since 1989.

For more information on the contest, call (805) 987-4979.
