Armed Forces triathlon kicks off tomorrow at Point Mugu The 2007 Armed Forces Triathlon Championships will be tomorrow, Sat., July 28 at Naval Base Ventura County in Point Mugu. Athletes will compete in an ocean swim, bike and run course. The four top male and female competitors will qualify for the 2007 U.S. Armed Forces Triathlon Team that will compete in the World Military Triathlon Championships later this year. Navy Lt. Andrew Baldwin of the TV show "The Bachelor" will be competing. Baldwin has run several triathlons at Point Mugu. The 20th annual Admiral's Cup race will take place before the triathlon. The Admiral's Cup contains a sprint race, 400meter swim, 9-mile bike ride and 3-mile run. Participation in this race is open to all, military and civilian. Competitors can sign up and get more details on www.active.com, under sprint triathlons. The Admiral's Cup begins at 8 a.m., with awards at 10:30 a.m. The Armed Forces Triathlon begins at 11 a.m., with the awards ceremony at 2 p.m. A shuttle van will transport guests to and from the triathlon site.
