Course offered for pet first aid

The Camarillo Health Care District will host an interactive, video-driven class on first aid for pets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sat., Aug. 11 at 3639 E. Las Posas Road, Ste. 117, Camarillo.

John Camarena, certified instructor, will have a pet manikin available for hands-on training. The focus is on dogs and cats; however, the skills learned are applicable to similar-sized animals.

Class participants will learn about approaching an injured animal, muscle and bone injuries, wound care, medical emergencies, common pet illnesses and CPR for dogs and cats.

Participants will receive a pet first aid book and a certificate of completion.

The class is for pet owners. Leave pets at home.

The class fee is $48. For Camarillo and Somis residents, the fee is $45.
