Somis Academy now accepting applications

Somis Academy Charter High School in Camarillo is accepting applicants for the 200708 school year.

The school is conducting a series of orientations in August for new and returning families.

Students entering the program are tested to find the strengths and weaknesses in their education, and a program is formulated between teachers, parents and students to ensure that the student masters state standards. Assignments may be personalized to help students achieve standards in the way they learn best.

Students receive instruction by qualified teachers in all core subjects and are required to meet with their supervising teacher weekly. Classes are offered both online and on campus, but students largely work on a supervisory basis from home.

Parents are considered as assistant teachers and are required to work together with the supervising teacher to monitor the child's daily work.
