Institute offers classes for seniors The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Cal State Channel Islands offers a wide range of courses for community members age 50 and up. Enrollment is now open for the fall 2007 session and closes Fri., Aug. 17. Classes begin the week of Aug. 20 and continue through Oct. 15. The institute will host its annual informational meeting for returning, new and prospective members from 2 to 4 p.m. Wed., Aug. 8 at Malibu Hall on the CSUCI campus in Camarillo. Parking is free on campus, or park at the Camarillo train station on Lewis Road and take the Vista Bus to campus. Most courses meet for two hours on the university campus in Camarillo once a week for eight weeks. Members may enroll in as many courses as they wish. There are no grades, tests or college credits. Fall courses are diverse: anthropology of religion, mythology, law and film, the popular song, British colonialism, the 2008 election, climate change, Shakespeare, evolution and diversity, and more. Membership also offers guest speakers throughout the university and attendance at university events and musical performances just for members. There is a fee for membership.
