Man arrested for allegedly stabbing his mother A domestic dispute last week quickly turned into a stabbing that left one Camarillo resident in critical condition and landed the other in jail. Nicholas Bridgman, 26, is in custody after allegedly stabbing his mother, Kala Bridgman, 60, several times on June 28, police said. Bridgman is being charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and causing great bodily harm, according to police reports. Bridgman's arraignment has been postponed until July 17. If convicted, Bridgman faces a maximum sentence of 13 years in prison. He remains at the main jail in Ventura in lieu of $560,000 bail. Ventura County Sheriff 's deputies responded to several 911 calls from neighbors in the early morning hours. When police arrived at the scene, John Beasley, a neighbor who heard distress calls from Kala Bridgman, was struggling with Bridgman. Police said they used Tasers to subdue Bridgman. Detectives credit Beasley with saving Kala Bridgman's life. Kala Bridgman was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. No motive was available at time of publication.
