CSUCI names new director of communications

Nancy Covarrubias Gill has been named the new director of communications and marketing at Cal State Channel Islands.

Gill will oversee university communication and marketing functions, media relations, serve as the public information officer, act as chair for the annual commencement ceremony and assist with community and governmental relations.

Gill has been with the university for the past seven and a half years, most recently serving as the special assistant to the vice president for student affairs and overseeing the area of special projects and student communication.

She has been involved with campus publications, projects and special events. Before joining CSUCI, Gill worked in a variety of development, membership and special event positions with St. John's Regional Medical Center and the Museum of Ventura County.

Gill holds a bachelor's degree from CSUCI and in the fall will complete a master's degree in public administration from Cal State Long Beach. She's a lifelong resident of Oxnard.
