Dog park a deception

Thank you for your interest in the dog park issue in Camarillo.

When we, the people of the neighborhood near the Camarillo Community Center, were made aware of the Park and Rec planning of the proposed park, I thought how great it was to live in a city that actually cared about how we felt about having a dog park in our neighborhood.

So many of us attended the first meeting to let them know that for various reasons we were opposed to the proposed location of the dog park.

The ratio was 30:4 against the park in that location. We went away happy, thinking that the board members really wanted to know how we felt before they voted.

We feel deceived as they then proceeded to have another meeting (which were not made aware of) where they voted to go ahead and build a dog park there.

I just thought that you may want to know how the vote was made without any of the people of the neighborhood knowing of the night of the vote.

As a mom of five children, some of whom need to use the parking lot to get to and from school, and as a concerned neighbor, I am strongly opposed to the dog park, not just in my neighborhood, but any residential neighborhood. They need to keep it where it is or move it to Freedom Park, where the dog owners can take their dogs and let them bark, run, urinate, defecate and reproduce to their hearts' content without having to put senior citizens, children and homeowners at risk of attack, noise pollution, foul smells and constant traffic and strangers coming in and out of our beautiful neighborhood.
