Four Camarillo teens among group selected for art program The Ventura County Arts Council hosted a Recognition Reception in the Sculpture Garden of the Studio Channel Islands Art Center for 20 Arts Scholars from Ventura County. Each student passed an application process to be selected to attend the 2007 California State Summer School for the Arts/Innerspark session at Cal Arts in Valencia. At a reception each student was recognized with certificates from the council and state, county and city elected officials. In addition, council President Monica Nolan presented each student with a Commemorative Folio featuring their fellow 2007 Ventura County Arts Scholars. The local arts scholars are Monica Adrian, Simi Valley, Santa Susana High School, visual arts. Violet Bruce, Camarillo, Adolfo Camarillo High School, visual arts. Maxwell Fisch, Camarillo, Newbury Park High School, instrumental music. Alexander Fragoso, Simi Valley, St. Paschal, vocal music. Daniel Iglesias, Moorpark, Moorpark High School, theater. Jacqueline Kaden, Camarillo, Monte Vista Middle School, visual arts. Daniel Lessler, Somis, Rio Mesa High School, instrumental music. Ryan McCarty, Simi Valley, Royal High School, instrumental music and music composition. Crystal Salas, Newbury Park, Newbury Park High School, creative writing. Samantha Standridge, Simi Valley, Santa Susana High School, animation. Christina Tellez, Camarillo, La Reina High School, visual arts. Brittney Torres, Simi Valley, Santa Susana High School, animation. The California Legislature created the California State Summer School for the Arts to provide a training environment for young artists.
