Array of activities on Seabee Days agenda

Seabee Days will take place Sat. and Sun., June 23 and 24 at the Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme.

Gates open at 9 a.m. Admission and parking are free. Enter at the Victoria Avenue or Patterson Road gates.

Seabee Days will feature ship tours, children's activities, demonstrations of Seabee construction skills and equipment, and entertainment.

There will be a fulldress military parade Saturday at 11 a.m. The parade will conclude with a fly-over by Navy aircraft and a machine gun demonstration.

Highlights of the event include a classic car show, a poker run and motorcycle show, and karaoke competition.

Performers include Teresa Russell and Cocobilli, Dave Storm and the Thunder Creek Band, Arlene Kole, Veruca Salt and the Channel Islands Drumline.

Ship tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Guests must first sign up for ship tours on the day of the tour at the ship tour/ information booth. Signups begin at 9 a.m. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Ship tour restrictions include: guests 16 and older must show a valid photo ID, a guest with a photo ID must accompany minor children, closedtoe shoes are recommended, strollers and wheelchairs cannot be accommodated on the tours, and no photography is allowed aboard ship.

Ship tour guests will be transported by bus from the event site.

Due to security, privately owned vehicles will not be allowed to drive to the port.

Due to security measures, all vehicles and personnel entering the base will be subject to search. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to, coolers, backpacks, skateboards, bicycles, glass containers, pets, alcohol and weapons.
