Summertime fun for the family It's that time of year again when Camarillo comes alive with food, wine and song. This weekend the Ventura County Greek Festival at the Camarillo Airport is one of the first events in a slate of summertime street fairs, festivals, concerts and wine tastings- all right here in the city. The countywide Greek festival- June 8 to 10- will include specialty foods, dance shows by local youngsters and even a fun run for those looking to work off that extra piece of baklava. For more information on the Greek festival, please call (805) 482-1273. Also beginning this weekend and running through September is the Camarillo Summer Concert in the Park series. Between June 9 and Sept. 8, the Camarillo Arts Council will stage seven outdoor concerts and two family friendly movies at Constitution Park on Carmen Drive. For more information about the concert series, call (805) 482-0800. Camarillo city officials have confirmed they will hold a Fourth of July Fireworks show at Adolfo Camarillo High School this year. Although details are still pending, residents should plan to arrive early and to bring a blanket and picnic dinner as they catch the city's pyrotechnic show under the stars. Ventura Boulevard along Old Town will be transformed July 13 to 15 for the Camarillo Fiesta and Street Fair. The three-day event that includes some 145 vendors and carnival rides is expected to draw more than 35,000 fairgoers to the city. On July 29, wine lovers throughout the county will meet at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch House for the 20th annual A Taste of Camarillo hosted by the Meadowlarks Service League. The Camarillo Art and Jazz Festival, Aug. 10 to 12, promises to be another fun-filled three days of smooth music and eclectic art. Organizers expect some 20,000 to attend the various events, which will be held at venues throughout the city- California State University at Channel Islands, Old Town and the ranch house.
