Local baseball teams prove they have the right stuff

Last night the Adolfo Camarillo High School baseball team took the field at Dodger Stadium to play Vista Murrieta High School in the CIFSouthern Section Division II championship game.

Win or lose- the Scorpions have proven once again that Pleasant Valley is rich in baseball talent.

To be sure, Rio Mesa High School's baseball team was within a single out of playing their crosstown rival for the championship title. The Spartans (16-11) were knocked out of postseason play by Vista Murrieta in a 5-4 loss on Tuesday.

In spite of their loss, the Spartans should revel in a season that saw a .500 ball club rise to become a title contender and one of the most successful Rio Mesa baseball teams in recent history.

This morning, the Camarillo baseball team is either on cloud nine having won the title or replaying what-could-have-been over and over in their minds.

Regardless of last night's outcome, the Scorpions, who entered the game with 28 wins, have shown why they're one of the best baseball teams in California.

The success of both of these teams did not happen by accident. Hard work, team play and commitment to the sport are the cornerstones of any successful ball club.

Congratulations to both teams- Camarillo couldn't be prouder.
