St. John's to host day for cancer survivors St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital will host their annual Cancer Survivors' Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun., June 3 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, 1600 N. Rose Ave., Oxnard. A cancer survivor is defined as anyone living with a history of cancer, from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. This year's theme, "A Celebration of Life," highlights the many reasons for celebrating life and reflects the ways that hope can brighten a life after a diagnosis of cancer. The event will include food, music, yoga demonstrations and integrative therapies such as Reiki. In addition, a local Girl Scout Troop will assist with a variety of children's activities, including face painting and crafts. Cancer survivor and singer Kiley Olivier will perform prior to a closing ritual that will recognize the cancer survivors in attendance. The event is a collaborative effort of St. John's Cancer Center of Ventura County, St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital, the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Survivors' Day Foundation.
