Zinc Matrix president speaks

Ross Dueber
A panel of experts, including Dr. Ross Dueber, president and CEO of Camarillo-based Zinc Matrix Power Inc., gathered to explore issues surrounding portable power sources at an MIT panel on "The Future of Battery and Fuel Cell Power" May 16 in Palo Alto, Calif.

The panel addressed miniaturization, energy density, durability and safety issues; new and developing battery and portable fuel cell concepts; and challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs.

"The silver-zinc technology we've developed is designed to handle both the power requirements and the need for a longer run time. In addition, we offer a higher level of consumer safety and environmental advantages," said Dueber.

The three primary benefits of silverzinc batteries include high performance, safety and a clean technology. Zinc Matrix Power rechargeable batteries deliver improved runtime over traditional lithium-ion batteries. They also have very high energy, delivering as much as 50 percent more than lithium-ion.

Additionally, silverzinc batteries are not flammable or toxic.

Key components of silverzinc batteries can be recycled and reused.

Zinc Matrix Power's rechargeable battery technology received the 2006 "Technology Innovation Accelerated" Award in the Mobility category at the Intel Developers Forum Conference in San Francisco.
