Women's fitness center offers free health survey

Contours Express, a fitness center designed for women, will recognize national Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention month this May by handing out risk surveys and educating local residents about the benefits of staying physically fit.

Contours Express members can measure their risk levels by taking the survey and showing the answers to their doctors for assessment.

Sonia Sharp of Contours Express of Camarillo said, "We want to deliver a better understanding of osteoporosis- and its risk factors- to our members and residents in the local area.

"Evidence shows that exercise may help build and maintain bone density at any age."

Osteoporosis is a disease linked to low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and an increased susceptibility to fractures in the hip, spine and wrist.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, osteoporosis is a major public health threat for about 55 percent of people age 50 and older. Contours Express of Camarillo is at 1727 E. Daily Drive, Ste. C.
