Pro CAPE

Speaking as a concerned parent, grandfather and resident of Camarillo, I strongly urge the Pleasant Valley School Board to approve the Camarillo Academy of Progressive Education (CAPE) charter school without delay.

Delaying the inevitable just increases the feelings of betrayal and anger and serves no useful purpose whatsoever. Let's focus on our children and their programs and relieve the anxiety of their teachers and parents.

I have many good memories of my granddaughters at Los Senderos Open School. The most recent occurred last week when I saw their applications for their May mini-courses. Their first choices were not subject matter familiar to them, but rather something that would stretch their minds.

That is what Los Senderos, their teachers, parents and our children are all about.

Let's face it, giving our teachers a much-deserved raise is an excellent impulse, but closing down an excellent school with a 30-year-track record was a wrong-headed solution.

The only option now is CAPE.
