Camarillo martial artists to compete in regional events

Several martial artists of all ages from Camarillo TaeKwonDo Academy will attend the International TaeKwonDo Alliance Regional Championships in Oxnard Sat., April 28.

As members of the alliance, the students are invited to participate in the regional competition.

Camarillo's students will compete against martial artists from throughout California in traditional forms, light-contact free sparring and freestyle forms of the students' own design.

While the preparation for the competition challenges the students physically, the mental benefits of competing stay with the students for a lifetime, said Frank Moss, chief instructor at the academy.

"Tae kwon do is about so much more than just kicking and punching," said Moss. "These students also have trained their minds to focus and remember how to execute each move and combination, and they have trained their emotions to remain focused despite the pressure."
