Hardy Academy offers scholarships

The Hardy Academy Foundation will offer two full scholarships for its "Brain Training Camp" summer sessions this year.

Applicants should be children in grades 1 through 12 who struggle academically and are in financial need.

The applications are available at www.hardyacademy.org, at the Hardy Academy office at 697 Mobil Ave. in Camarillo, or by calling (805) 389-8144.

Applications are due at the Hardy Academy office no later than 3 p.m. Thurs., May 31.

Two four-week sessions are scheduled for June 18 to July 13 and July 16 to Aug. 10. One scholarship is available for each session.

Applicants will choose from one of the camps listed below:

+Brain Training Camp: To improve attention, focus, learning speed and athletic performance with activities from a variety of brain training programs. This nonmedicated program is for ages 7 and up and is scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

+Reading and Writing Camp: For children in grades 1 to 6, it combines Lindamood-Bell program, eye tracking exercises to improve phonics and comprehension, storytelling techniques and writing skills and is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

+Math and Science Camp: For children in grades 1 to 6, this camp offers review of math facts and arithmetic along with opportunities for using math in daily activities, science activities and experiments. It is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

+Creative Writing Camp: For middle and high school students, the camp is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

+High School Help: Students can prepare for the exit exam or redo an English or math course. Days, times and cost vary by individual needs.

Hardy Learning Center provides educational solutions for atrisk children with learning, social and behavioral challenges.
