CMH taps Sommer, Woodburn as 2007 chiefs of staff

Community Memorial Health System has announced that Dr. Douglas Alan Woodburn has been elected chief of staff at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura and Dr. Daniel G. Sommer is the newly elected chief of staff at Ojai Valley Community Hospital.

Woodburn, a general surgeon who has been on staff at CMH for 19 years, heads the active medical staff at the Ventura hospital. He also will serve on the board of trustees as the medical staff's representative to the board, and he will preside over medical staff meetings and oversee all standing medical committees at the hospital.

Woodburn, a Ventura resident, also is a staff member at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and belongs to the Ventura County Medical Society, the California Medical Association and the Society of Graduate Surgeons, Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

Sommer, an Oak View resident and board-certified radiologist, serves as the leading medical officer at the Ojai hospital, where he has been chief of the radiology department since 2002. Sommer was a longtime staff radiologist at Community Memorial Hospital and served as a radiologist in the United States Air Force at Castle Air Force Base Hospital in Merced. He also practices at Goleta Valley and Santa Ynez hospitals.
