For the record

The Camarillo Acorn reported April 13 that the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District board members voted at their April 4 not to approve a new dog park in Camarillo because of a lack of funding.

The park district board, in fact, voted 5-0 to build the new dog park, which will be located between the Camarillo Community Center and El Descanso Elementary School. The board decided to list the park- expected to cost between $30,000 to $40,000- as a line item in the park district's 2007-08 budget.

Park district officials will now explore how the new dog park will be funded and whether or not to enlarge the existing dog park at Camarillo Grove Park.
