Arts Council holds luncheon, concert

The Ventura County Arts Council has announced the finalists for the 2007 Art Stars Award.

The finalists will be honored at two festive events.

The celebration kicks off with the Art Stars Awards luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tues., April 10 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Oxnard.

Celebrity master of ceremonies Lee Marshall of The Boomer radio station will reveal the names of the winners in each of eight categories. The winners will each be presented with a personalized edition of the Art Stars statuette.

The ceremony will be taped for showing at the Art Stars Awards reception and benefit concert, starring Scotty Morris & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, 8 p.m. on Sun., April 22 at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the reception, which will feature cocktails and light fare at the nohost bar. Included in the festivities will be a silent auction, offering trips, wine, tickets, jewelry, books, dinners and more.

The Art Stars Award was created by the Ventura County Arts Council to recognize and honor individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions of time, talent or money in support of the county's cultural life.

Nominations of those who represent the best supporters of arts in the county were received from throughout Ventura County. Winners will be selected by a committee of their peers.
