Couple returns from mission in Chile
Don and Nancy Howaldmembers of the Camarillo United Methodist Church, recently returned from a fourweek trip to Chile where they helped build a home for an American missionary working in that country. It was their fourth trip to the South American country as building missionaries.

The Howalds were volunteers working with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, headquartered in New York.

The couple, along with helpers from the Angol area of Chile, completed the home for the missionary, John Elmore, of Alabama, who has been working in Chile for nine years and is responsible for all United Methodist Church construction in the country.

In December, the Howalds will return to Chile for their fifth missionary project.

Last year, the Howalds led two work teams in Chile to help build a home for the pastor in Villarrica. On two earlier tripsthey built a home for the pastor in Huequen.

"The local people feel they gain more from the experience than those of us who come to help," Don Howald said. "We find working directly with local people very rewarding."

The Camarillo United Methodist Church is at 291 Anacapa Drive. For information, call (805) 482-4312 or visiwww.cam-umc.org.
