Greek parish retires land debt

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church retired the debt on new land on Sun., March 4. The parish plans to raise additional funds to build new structures on this parcel in the Mission Oaks area of Camarillo to accommodate expansion of facilities and programs.

Fundraising efforts for the land began in April 2004. Leadership for this project was provided by the Rev. Gary Kyriacou after he was assigned to the parish on Aug. 1, 2004.

The parish, celebrating its 30th anniversary, is at 400 Skyway Drive in the Camarillo Airport. Membership consists of approximately 160 families in Ventura County.

St. Demetrios is under the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. Services are conducted in English and some Greek. Services begin at 9 a.m. Sundays. Visitors are welcome.
