Supports intelligent design

It amazes me how little most people know about the actual science regarding the debate on evolution and intelligent design. Creationism is always devalued by the idea that it is strictly a figment of faith and religion. What this article failed to communicate is that the theory of intelligent design was created by a large and growing number of scientists, not Christians, who have found mounting evidence to disprove the ideas of evolution.

Scientists are continually discrediting research, including some of their own, supporting evolution and report that evidence in the areas of cosmology, biochemistry, biological information and physics all point to the improbability that complicated life as exists on earth today could have developed out of nothing. Many scientists in this field are not trying to find scientific facts; they are trying to prove their beliefs, just as Christians are discredited for doing.

The difference is that the term "scientist" holds more weight in our society than the term "Christian," so their theory is accepted as fact. That is why it is important for people to understand that the theory of intelligent design is a scientific term created by scientists who are seeking the truth through research and scientific evidence regarding life on earth.

I had to laugh at the comments made by Moorpark professor Clint Harper regarding this topic. I wonder if it is even legal for a public educator to advise his students, as he claimed to do, that "Religion gave you 9/11, takes your money every Sunday and wastes part of your weekend . . . science gave you antibiotics, iPods and cellphones. Take your pick."

It must seem horrible to him that churches would use collection money to provide food, homes and other services to needy people or that students would spend an hour of their weekend in the company of decent people.

Are the atom bomb and nerve gas not products of science? It's not science or religion that taints our world; it's the abuse of either of them. Lindsay Pelascini Camarillo
