Holocaust survivor to share story at AlmaVia

Public speaker and educator Bernd Simon of Ventura will talk about his escape from the Nazi death camp during World War II during a free presentation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs., April 5 at AlmaVia of Camarillo, 2500 Ponderosa Drive North.

Simon, who had his home in Dachau destroyed by the Nazis, will recount his experiences including his escape from the Nazis to Cuba and his later emigration into the U.S. Army, where he spent several years after the war hunting down Nazi war criminals.

A Ventura County resident since 1948, Simon is a teacher of languages at UC Santa Barbara and has shared his experience with many local schools and civic organizations.

To RSVP for the presentation, call AlmaVia of Camarillo at (805) 388-5277.
