Former CIA agent to speak

The World Affairs Council of America will present John Cassara, retired special agent for the CIA and treasury department, who will speak about "The Stalled War on Terrorist Finance" at 2 p.m. Thurs., March 29 on the campus at California State University at Channel Islands and at a VIP reception, dinner and presentation beginning at 5:30 p.m. Fri., March 30 at Courtyard by Marriot in Oxnard, 600 E. Esplanade Drive.

Cassara is considered an expert in money laundering and terrorist financing, with particular expertise in the Middle East. He is a consultant to federal agencies involved in the "War on Terror." Cassara was a CIA case officer and special agent for the treasury department.

The cost for Friday's reception, dinner and presentation is $100. For dinner and presentation only, price for council members is $50, for nonmembers $60. The presentation only costs $20.
