New Camarillo Library opens at end of month
Grand opening events to include entertainment

The grand opening of the new Camarillo Library at 4101 E. Las Posas Road will be Sat. and Sun., March 31 and April 1.

Entertainment will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, and the ribbon cutting and dedication will be at 10:30. Mayor Jan McDonald will give a speech, and the rest of the weekend will include author visits, tours of the new facility, refreshments and programs for children, teens and adults.

The new library's hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The county library system will commemorate the opening by declaring Amnesty Week from Sat., March 31 to Sat., April 7. Fines will be waived on overdue books returned to any Ventura County Library during the week.

Construction of the 65,621square-foot, two-story library building was paid for by a grant from the California Library Bond Act and matching funds from the city of Camarillo, in addition to support from Friends of the Camarillo Library and the community. Ground was broken in 2005.

For more information, call Sandi Banks, library manager, at (805) 388-5222.
