      The Ventura County Office of Education has announced a partnership with the County Schools Federal Credit Union for sponsorship of the Ventura County Mock Trial and Academic Decathlon competitions. Bob Emerich is chief executive officer of the credit union.

      Monte Vista Middle School may be joining an elite group. It's one of a select few in the state that could be named a 2007 California Distinguished School, officials said last week. About 5 percent of schools statewide are chosen for the California Distinguished honor.

      Pleasant Valley Lions Club is offering $2,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors who lived in Camarillo or Somis this past school year and plan on attending a university, community college or technical/trade school within the next school year.
