Soroptimists to award memorial scholarship

Soroptimist International of Camarillo is accepting applications for the Amy Durst McAvoy Memorial Scholarship.

Applicants must be female high school seniors residing in Ventura County who plan to attend the California State University at Channel Islands in the fall and major in math, science or related fields.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Fri., March 23.

The annual scholarship of $1,500 is a tribute to the life of McAvoy, architect, aviatrix, equestrian and a longtime member of Soroptimist. She was known in the county for her philanthropy and volunteer service.
