Keep cameras rolling We, along with many other parents, were shocked and appalled about the Pleasant Valley School Board's unanimous decision to not televise all board meetings during this critical time and their erroneous reasons for not doing so. How dare publicly elected officials, elected to serve the community, blatantly disregard what is best for the community. When you decide to run for a public office you expect to be "watched" and listened to and so should the staff you hire. Why were you, Mr. Speakman, and others elected if you are so worried about you and your staff being publicly misinterpreted, nervous and feeling unprepared. Do your jobs well and actually care about what's best for our children, parents and members of Camarillo. Then you won't worry about being viewed by what you estimate to be "60,000" people who would like to have the convenience and right to keep you and the board members doing what they were elected and paid to do, care about your community. If the board is not willing to listen to the community on this small issue of importance, then why would they make a decision regarding school closures that would be based on the community's best interest. We as individual schools need to stop attacking each other and band together. We are all now paying for the board's bad decisions and mismanagement. We all need to start researching the facts and make the board accountable for their mistakes, not punish the children. Marsha Tryforos Natorae Wettstein Sharon Martin Camarillo |
