Squirrels will be featured at museum The following programs will be presented by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and are free with paid museum admission. Those attending Family Fun Day: Expanding Habitats will explore ways to improve the habitat and make it greener, more energy efficient and less intrusive. The Squirrel Lady will bring furry acrobats to demonstrate the talents animals possess that help them thrive in any environment. The program will be from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sun., Jan. 21. The same day, Cal State Los Angeles professor Alan Muchlinski will train participants to identify, inventory and observe the habits of squirrels. Citizen Science is a new museum program created to foster an understanding of the relationship between human activity and natural habitat. Three sessions will be held jointly in the Times Mirror Room and on the museum's south lawn. During Musical Sunday, The Hollow Trees will appear at 1 and 3 p.m. Sun., Jan. 28 in the African mammal hall. The children's folk band will perform songs about animals and dinosaurs. |
