Children's therapy dog gets knee surgery

      Surgery went well for Archie, Casa Pacifica's therapy dog, a veterinary hospital spokesperson said earlier this week. The 165-pound Newfoundland underwent surgery on Monday to repair a ruptured ligament in his left knee at a veterinary hospital in Ventura and was expected to be released today.

Haircuts will help charity
      Team Brazilian Beanz/Dos Caminos will host a charity fundraising cut-athon from noon to 3 p.m. Sun., Sept.16 at Heads Up Hair Design, 4421 Las Posas Road, Ste. D, Camarillo. Haircuts are $10 for children ages 10 and under and $15 for adults. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life, which will take place Oct. 13 and 14 at Adolfo Camarillo High School.

      The California Coastal Commission announced that the 23rd annual California Coastal Cleanup Day will be from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., Sept. 15 at more than 700 locations around the state. Volunteers will clean trash and debris from 1,100 miles of the coast and 1,000 miles along the inland shorelines of bays, creeks, rivers and lakes throughout the state.
