Father and son ballpark bound
     CRACKER JACK DAD- Ryan Ferron, 8, and his dad Mike Ferron will spend the day at Dodger Stadium together July 19 to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the New York Mets with tickets Ryan won in a Father's Day essay contest hosted by the merchants at Las Posas Plaza in Camarillo. In 50 words or less, youngsters were invited to write why dad or grandpa should take them out to the ballpark. Ryan wrote in his essay, "My dad should take me to a ballgame because we like being together, we like being together in the car, we like eating hotdogs together, we like watching and cheering together, we like keeping score together, we love being together."

Art center celebrates 10th year
Variety of events scheduled
      Studio Channel Islands ArCenter will begin its 10th anniversary celebration with an exhibition curated by Ventura County artist Gerd Koch from July 14 to Sept. 8 at the gallery in Building B, Ventura St., on the campus of Cal State Channel Islands.

Museum announces summer films
      The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum has announced a new schedule of films for the summer. The short films are presented in high-definition and are included with museum admission. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Wednesdays, through Labor Day. The museum is at 113 Harbor Way, Ste. 190, Santa Barbara.

Student works share theme of 'Summer Light'
      CSUCI Exhibitions gallery will show "Summer Light" through Aug. 30 at 92 Palm Drive in Old Town Camarillo. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibition will feature paintings by students of Cal State Channel Islands whose artwork shares the theme of the summer season.
