Grads prepare for outside world
      Rio Mesa High School seniors Adam Kuns, David Llata and Nadia Talley talk about their posthigh school careers with the confident enthusiasm of three promising futures. The teens will graduate today alongside 395 other Rio Mesa seniors as they don their caps and gowns and accept their diplomas at a 4 p.m. ceremony on the Oxnard campus.

Language program to expand

ACHS class awarded over $1.2 million in scholarships
      Adolfo Camarillo High School Principal Glenn Lipman rattles off the accomplishments of this year's graduating class with the pride of a father recounting the success of his own children. According to Lipman, the 525 seniors expected to graduate today earned more than $1.2 million in scholarships.

He's been the go-to guy for advice
      Kathy and Mike Broder say their youngest child has always taken an interest in helping those who need it. While growing up, Joey, 17, would take time to help children and the elderly and infirm, and as a teenager wasn't interested in the typical pursuits, such as running for student government, they said.

      Katie Gnagy was impressed with Chris Kimball from the start. Minutes after her shy son, Lucas, entered the special day class at Rancho Rosal Elementary, Kimball had the kindergartner doubled over with laughter.

Four Camarillo teens among group selected for art program
      The Ventura County Arts Council hosted a Recognition Reception in the Sculpture Garden of the Studio Channel Islands Art Center for 20 Arts Scholars from Ventura County. Each student passed an application process to be selected to attend the 2007 California State Summer School for the Arts/Innerspark session at Cal Arts in Valencia.
