Girl Scouts to honor Women of Distinction
      The Girl Scouts of Tres Condados and a Ventura County steering committee will host the Women of Distinction fundraising luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo. Honorees are three women from Ventura County: Victoria Chandler-Nelson, Jill Lederer and Helen Yunker.

Tall ships sail into Ventura County
      Two historic tall ships, Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, will visit Channel Islands Harbor during the 11th annual Tall Ships Tour, Feb. 5 to 13. The tall ships will arrive late in the morning on Mon., Feb. 5 and will be docked at the Ventura County Harbor Department, 3900 Pelican Way. Free tours of the ships will be offered on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m.

T.O. dance academy opens
      Paiva Dance Academy will open Mon., Feb. 5 at 2636 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. It will offer classes in all dance styles for children and adults. Studio director and owner Orlando Paiva Jr. is an Argentine tango dancer and instructor. Born and raised in Rosario, Argentina, he has taught and performed in Buenos Aires, Europe and the United States.
