Entries being accepted for Strawberry Festival poster

Entries are being accepted for the 2007 California Strawberry Festival Poster Contest. The deadline is Fri., Jan. 5.

The festival pays tribute to California’s agricultural heritage and benefits various charities. The poster will be used in marketing and advertising, and printed on Tshirts and promotional items.

Artists of all ages may work in any medium, but the finished product must be able to be reproduced in poster form. The image only, without script or title, is preferred; the event name will be added in final production. The poster committee is looking for an image that captures the look and feel of the weekend celebration, with its blend of entertainment, foods, arts and crafts, the Strawberry Promenade, contests and family activities.  

All finished artwork must be 16 inches wide and 17 inches high, centered and mounted on a black matte board 18 inches wide and 19 inches high. Names and contact information should be clearly written on the back. Entries can be mailed or hand delivered to the fes

The firstplace winner will receive a check for $1,500 and will be the guest of honor at a press luncheon announcement in February. Second and thirdplace winners will each receive a check for $300. Top winners will be notified by Jan. 19. Posters will not be returned and must be picked up from the festival office any time between Jan. 22 and 26. The original designs and all rights of the winning designs will belong to the California Strawberry Festival.

Originating in 1984, the California Strawberry Festival is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for charities in excess of $2 million dollars.
