Auto dealers group gives generously to hospital

St. John’s Regional Medical Center and St. John’s Healthcare Foundation accepted a $15,000 donation from the Oxnard Auto Center Association at an outdoor ceremony at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard on Dec. 19. The association is comprised of all the dealers in the Oxnard Auto Center.

Randy Haddock, president of the Oxnard Auto Association, presented the gift to Sue Chadwick, president of St. John’s Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors, and Cindy Legge, director of rehabilitation and therapy services at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.  Members of the Auto Associa

tion Board and St. John’s Executive Leadership Team were also present.

The donation will fund a new NeuroCom Balance Master for the hospital’s rehabilitation center. The device accurately identifies and differentiates specific sensory and motor impairments.

The equipment consists of a computer, printer, mobile system card and force plate, and has training protocols to target specific impairments of each patient.

Through advances in computerized assessments, clinicians can differentiate among sensory and motor impairments that contribute to balance problems and the resulting functional limitations.

The funds were raised through a special sales event in October by the Oxnard Auto Center specifically to benefit St. John’s Regional Medical Center “The St. John’s Rehabilitation

Department is honored to receive this generous donation toward a new rehabilitation equipment,” said Legge. “There is a real clinical need for improved management of patients with balance and mobility disorders. This equipment

provides objective evidence to make the best clinical decisions for the patient.”

The rehabilitation center previously received a rehab van and station wagon through donations from the Oxnard Auto Association.
