Program helps students prepare for college

California State University at Channel Islands has launched a program designed to help middle and high school students to continue their education.

The program is made possible through a grant of $220,000 from the Educational Talent Search, a federally funded program of the U.S. Department of Education.

The program is intended to help prepare students to apply and attend

any college, university or qualified institution of postsecondary education. Students must meet federal income guidelines to enroll.

The goal of the program is to encourage students to enroll and to provide them with knowledge and tools to help them succeed in their post-secondary education. Services include assisting students with college selection, admissions and the financial aid application process, as well as providing learning and test preparation skills.

The program is available for students in grades 6 through 12 from middle and high schools in Oxnard and Santa Paula.

For more information and to enroll, call the Talent Search office at (805) 437-8536 or e-mail ets@csuci.edu. or go to www.csuci.edu/ets.
