Parade marches through town tomorrow

Marching bands, floats and Santa Claus. Oh my!

The 45th annual Camarillo Christmas Parade will once again draw thousands of residents along Las Posas Road tomorrow at noon to enjoy the pageantry of the popular event.

With the return of funding from the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District, organizers expect this year's parade with the theme "Christmas on the Farm" to be a real "holiday hoedown."

The parade begins at the intersection of Las Posas at Temple and will end at the Camarillo Community Center on Carmen Road

The Topa Topa Flywheelers-an antique tractor restoration club-are this year's grand marshals.

Jeanette Laster, a Camarillo resident and lead organizer of the parade, said high school marching bands from throughout California will compete for the coveted Walter Brennan Award, named for the Academy Award-winning Ventura County native and popular character actor.

The Camarillo Community Center will host all types of activities after the parade, including a petting zoo, food booths and live music.

In recognition of Adolfo Camarillo High School's 50th anniversary, the high school band will perform a special concert at the community center following the parade.
