Church to debut 'Color of the Cross'
Film examines last 48 hours of life of Jesus Christ
"Color of the Cross," the first feature film depiction of Jesus Christ as a black man, will debut in Ventura County at 7 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 9, with a second show at 6 p.m. Sun., Dec. 10 at Saint Paul Baptist Church, 1777 Statham Blvd. in Oxnard.

The screenings are hosted by the Ventura County Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., a national community service organization.

According to the press release, "Writer-director-star Jean-Claude LaMarre examines the last 48 hours of Jesus' life. By portraying Jesus as a black man, this movie may appear controversial to some. However, it stands to be the single most positive image of a black lead character in a film to date. It also examines the role race may have played in the persecution, capture and crucifixion of Jesus."

The cast includes Emmy award-winning actress Debbi Morgan and TV personality Ananda Lewis.

Tickets are $10 and will go on sale one hour before each show. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for local youth.

For tickets and more information, call LeKishia Moffett (805) 300-6474 or visit www.colorofthecross.com.
