Agromin donation teaches children recycling lesson
Camarillo soil maker gives 40 growing kits to elementary school

Agromin, a premium soil manufacturer based in Camarillo, has donated 40 "Carrots for Kids" seed growing kits to Montalvo Elementary PEAK After School program.

The kits were distributed as part of a student incentive program. Each kit contains carrot seeds, a planter box with tray, plant labels, a planting instruction bookmark, a green recycling activity booklet, a pencil made of recycled wood, stickers and two 2-quart bags of planting soil.

The soil contained in the kits comes from recycled green ma

terials collected from residents and businesses in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and parts of Los Angeles County. Agromin collects and composts about 20,000 tons of green materials each month.

"The more green waste we can recycle, the more waste we can keep out of landfills," said Bill Camarillo, Agromin CFO. "We teach the importance of recycling in the booklet we include with the kits."
