Los Altos holds 'high school night' for parents Los Altos Middle School recently hosted "Los Altos High School Night." Present were Adolfo Camarillo High School Principal Glen Lipman; high school math department chair John Collins and English department chair Fran Berman. All seventh and eighth grade Los Altos students and their parents were invited to attend. Attendees were informed about tools for high school success such as A-G college requirements, the California high school exit exam, high school preparation and ACHS requirements for the newlyimplemented college prep and advanced placement classes. Los Altos Principal Sue Eastman said, "I was very pleased by the over 150 parents and students who attended our high school night. The size and attentiveness of the group indicated the interest that our Los Altos family has with academics and high standards of performance. Many of our staff members also attended the meeting and reiterated the information in our classrooms during the remainder of the week." Lipman said, "We had a great time. The high school and college information presented by our high school educators was helpful to students and parents in order to prepare for their long-term educational endeavors." The Los Altos staff presented the program as an attempt to ease the transition from middle school into high school and to make college a possible goal for all students. |
