The Camarillo Art Center, with the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, hosted a mixer and ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 2 to celebrate the center's "facelift."
The art center at 3150 Ponderosa Drive has more than 100 members, many of whom are professionals and most of whom live in Camarillo.
The center hosts an "Art Smart" program for children in grades 2 to 6. The students learn various art techniques and display their work at the end of the session.
John Colby leads a painters' group at 10 a.m. Thursdays. Any member can join by showing up.
An annual middle school and high school show features art work from local students.
Demonstrations are 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month except July, August, November and December. The cost is $5 for nonmembers and free for members.
Members may enter up to three paintings in the two judged membership shows each year.
The center has free public exhibits every weekend except holidays. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
