Residents among photo contest winners

The National Park Service recently announced the winners of the "Spirit of the Mountains" photo contest.

Winners were announced on Oct. 7 at the opening of the 2006 photo exhibit at the National park Service Visitor Center, 401 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

All winners received ribbons and certificates of recognition for their photographs.

Local winners include Roy Allen, Debra Kiner and Frank Greenway of Newbury Park; Rebecca Hanson, Pat McLean and Jim Gross of Camarillo; David Ross, David Jockisch, David McMartin, Carol Finamore Stanley, Rob Oswalt and Hal Muller of Thousand Oaks; and Scott McReynolds of Woodland Hills.

Young photographer awards went to Kai Sebastian, 6, of Newbury Park and Alexander Papazoglou, 7, of West Hills.

The exhibit will run until Nov. 30 at the visitor center in Thousand Oaks.
